your mind & it's behaviours

Your Mind... So very powerful isn't it? Do we really understand the mind and how it affects our behaviours? To a certain extent perhaps but ask yourself this, when was the last time you studied your mind?

Ok enough rhetorical questions; your mind is the reason you’ve done what you’ve done, why you’ve acted, spoken and moved in a particular way. I want to focus on why we continue to live our lives daily without recognition of how our mind reacted to certain things. For example, something you saw triggered you to act in a particular way. Was this “way” out of the ordinary for you? Was it out of character? If so, did you stop to analyse why this had an effect on you and why you chose to react in a particular way.

Once you understand the power of your mind, you’ll be able to continuously conquer and achieve. Let’s be real, not all of what enters our mind is of good, in fact, a lot of what enters our mind can have negative, conflicting and problematic ways of affecting us.

I’ve realised that I’m most productive when I’m in control of my mind, if my mind and thoughts are clear I behave in a productive and well manner. However if I’m un-WOKE, distracted and influenced I find myself confused, all over the place and simply unproductive. Until you get your mind right, you almost become a repellent to positive change and progressive control over your life.

Scientists have always come up with programmes and theory’s to provide an explanation backing the mind and human behaviours. For example, Bandler & Grinder’s Neuro Linguistic Programming, explaining the connection between nerves, linguistics and behavioural patterns learned through experiences. Or even Cognitive behavioural therapy on the development of personal coping strategies which targets problem solving and the change of unusual patterns, behaviours and emotional regulation.

Lastly one of my favourites, Time Line Therapy, ‘our life experiences and the memories associated with them impact on how we approach our lives now, day to day. It’s “the stuff” from the past that keeps us less than fulfilled and stops us from achieving the results we want.’

What’s my point? My point is for you to stop for a few minutes and notice how your mind controls your behaviours. More importantly what you allow to get in and fill your mind; It will make a difference on the results you see.
